About The Sonshine Sisters
Meet The Sonshine Sister Club!
They are a group of diverse girls that aren't perfect. In fact, these stories are far from perfect. They make big messes and have big emotions, but they learn that no mess or feeling is too big for Jesus. Each book takes you through some big problems with the goal of learning alongside The Sonshine Sister Club about how to become more like Jesus.

These lessons include: Selfishness, Insecurities, Lying, Misunderstandings, Sibling Tension, Fear of Missing Out, Mean Girls, and More!

As the girls go through relatable struggles, they sometimes don't initially make the best choices. They have to work through them, learn to apologize and forgive, and figure out how to do better. The Sonshine Sister Club isn't perfect, but is written to show young readers that imperfections don't keep them from Jesus...that instead they can go to Jesus to help them through their struggles!
Now let's meet them!

First, we have Andie. She's the main character of the entire series. She's homeschooled, 10-years-old, loves to bake and craft, and sometimes feels like she makes the most mistakes of all!

Then you have Emma, her best friend. She's also homeschooled and is part of a military family. She loves her dog, Gus.

Caroline is a ballet dancer and very outgoing. She's boy crazy, which Andie does not understand. She attends public school and likes to dress up more than not. She's also known to always have a perfect top bun.

Sam is the keeper of the prayer requests at their Sonshine Sister meetings. Her mom owns the local coffee shop and she's always hyped up on espresso. She's a perfectionist and attends private school where she excels in her studies. She's obsessed with the color, teal.

Sarah is a science nerd and she's proud of it. She's a little quieter than the other Sonshine Sisters, but Andie loves her for her ability to rattle off gross science facts so easily. Naturally, she loves a good science fair at her school.

Grow alongside the characters!
In Book 1, Woes of a Really, Very Bad Haircut, you meet Andie at her worst, as we usually do in fictional tales meant to help us learn and grow as a person! She's upset...angry even...and her attitude is very poor. She tries to control her tongue, but fails to do so and ends up creating some big messes because of her big feelings.

While each book resolves with an ending that shows how Andie and her Sonshine Sisters learned a big lesson...with each new book, you begin to see the positive character development for everyone! Andie changes. The Sonshine Sisters change. Andie's family even changes! It's a continual lesson that as you keep leaning into Jesus and learning how to become more like Him, your heart and life change. The words you use change. The attitude you have improves. But like most things, results don't happen overnight! They happen over time, as you grow and apply the lessons you learn.

This is an ongoing series where your young reader can truly read how Andie is changing, how she doesn't just listen to the lesson, but she also puts it into action over time in her life to become more like Jesus!

Hi! I'm Shelbey Kendall!

I'm not perfect, in fact...I'm far from it. It's why I wanted to write a series like The Babysitter's Club but with the goal of teaching my own daughters how to become more like Jesus through messy, relatable emotions and circumstances. I don't write perfect characters or perfect storylines, I write about a perfect Jesus that even in all our imperfections still loves us and wants us to seek Him out. Real life is messy sometimes. I want young readers to know that those messes don't make them less worthy of the love of Jesus.

This series is meant to engage readers so that they can learn alongside The Sonshine Sisters about how to handle real-life emotions and messy situations. It's a series I would have loved as a young girl that was struggling in my own faith when it came to applying it in my life which felt hard sometimes.

Jesus is for everyone and I'm excited to provide stories that show no mistake or feeling is too big to keep others from Him!

As a Christian, homeschool mom with two young daughters, thank you for writing The Sonshine Sister Club book series. They have opened up great conversations with my girls about different life situations, relationships, and most importantly Jesus! It's nice being able to provide books for my girls and not have to worry about inappropriate content.
